Hi all
Has any one got an emerald k6 ecu fitted with the conversion lead
The lead that plugs the ecu in to the MBE harness
And has any one had any problems with any part of the set up
Seems like a good way of upgrade
For 1k
Thanks in advance

I bought a seond hand M3D with link loom and maps from a Cerbera.

Doesn't do "live" mapping, you have to upload changes (not sure if this addressed in the K6).

I just plugged mine in and off I went.

Cold start maps were poor and part throttle drive-ability wasn't fantastic, so I took it off again. Might get round to tidying the maps up when the car is back on the road.

Ive got the k6 on mine as I needed to map against boost and the MBE would not do that. Its easy to use and if you are clever and brave enough its easy to interrogate and adjust the maps. I haven't tried to map it myself as I put to much time and money into the engine to blow it up by getting the map wrong.

In mine it has proved 100% reliable. The only real advantage is that you can map it yourself and it is much more flexible than the MBE. It cannot take 2 throttle pot inputs and will not directlt run a wideband sensor. When mapped by an expert the K6 matched the MBE power (joolz map) but did not improve on it. I think both made around 420bhp on a tuned 4.5 ajp.

Diagnostics are better and the data logger is very good. Its very competitive on price and if you get it mapped by Emerald their prices are very very competitive.

There are better systems around but costs spiral upwards. If you intend to modify your cerb and want to edit the map yourself then its worthwhile. If your car is going to be kept standard and you have no issues with MBE then stick with the MBE.

^^ good comments from Paul.
The emerald is of couse live mappable from the F8 live mapping screen, but direct live edits to the map tables aren't do-able, but are only 2 clicks away (ctrl-p to program any changes back to the ecu).
I sell emerald ecus and have fitted many to ajp8 engined cars, the m3d is upgradeable in many cases to K3 specification which brings some useful features and user-friendliness. the K6 is a lovely ecu. Cold start nd warm up are just a case of updating the trims each morning until you get it running as you want to, the same as you would with any aftermarket ecu of course. Once set up correctly it's a dream, just needs a bit of time playing with the settings.
