M4 Speed Limits

Can anybody help? I was caught by a camera device on the M4 Near the tolls plaza, Rogiet. Looking through the information on the Internet, I found that it was Camera number 53 at J23. According to the information about this camera, the speed limit is 70mph. According to the letter I had this morning, the "excess speed" was 50mph. I was clocked at 81mph. Ok, so I think I was caught doing 11mph over the limit, but why was the excess speed quoted as 50mph. I can remember passing through a few roadworks where the limit was 50mph; I most certainly kept to the limit within those particular zones. If this is the case I am a bit concerned that I was doing 31mph over the top; thats not like me....normally a careful driver.

If nobody on here lives around there....you might have to revisit to see if there are roadworks or something and a temporary speed limit...

As you rightly say...31mph as opposed to 11mph is quite significant....

This was on 9th October, so if there were temporary speed limits that I missed, is there an archive of listed temporary speed limits that I can check out.

Any information in the paperwork after the speed fiqure as being contrary to? If an Order is mentioned then could well be roadworks?

Is the second Severn crossing? Seem to recall they have recently put a 50mph limit on the approach to the tolls
