In case anyone fancies an unusual 2 seater, doesn't mind getting it from Texas and has more money (IMO) than sense

Why do you think it's such a white elephant at £25k ?
For a very rare coach built aluminium-bodied Healey in half decent order it seems quite reasonable to me.
The last one sold at Bonhams fetched £39k and it needed total restoration.

At 25k it's OK, but at the price they expect to get, it's high, we'll see how high it goes, I've been asked not to divulge what they expect to get, although you could ask them, I think the ad says POA. I'm watching the auction with interest, as is my friend in the club who has one! I don't understand why the Bonhams one went for 39k I think everyone in the club was surprised by that. They are a rare car but when they get into E type and more prices I'm not convinced!

Classic Restorations http://www.classicrestorations.org.uk/sale.php?id=... often have cars for sale (at a price!) they did have an Abbott for sale on behalf of a customer not long ago, I think the woody is still for sale, Silverstone reps some may be available and he did have a Westland a while ago.There's a Sportsmobile for Sale in Germany, I haven't heard that it's sold, can find details if you are interested.
They occasionaly come up in the club magazine but there are usually more people want them than are for sale these days.

It looks a pretty little thing, its much rarer than an E, so perhaps for someone looking for something that wee bit different.Says it has the Alvis gearbox, so more advanced than an early E
in that department.Never having seen one before I was surprised by there only being 2 carbs, pre-war I thought Alvis used triple SUs on their 6 cylinder cars.
Perhaps if I had the money it might be interesting.
Rev counter doesn't seem to be doing much and the floor dip-switch is badly positioned leaving nowhere to put your left foot.
My father had a 3 litre TA 21 in the late 50's/early 60's, great fun to drive but seems absolutely tiny compared to today's cars. In a sports body I imagine that engine would be quite lively, I think it had twin SU's.

Club records last heard of it in Switzerland and it unexpectedly re-surfaced in the States, it does appear to have been in Germany.Upatdawn said:

The grilles were always ugly whatever the money was! On the plus side it wasn't as ugly as the Pininfarina styled Nash which was a very similar body - left to right, early Nash, Alvis (the newest of the 3), Late (Pininfarina) Nash. There was a soft top late Nash as well, this is a rare photo of 3 models together.
