Afternoon all!
Does anyone know what could be causing a 2001 E240 Avantgarde to lose drive when warm?
Engine seems to run and will speed up when throttle pressed but all drive is lost in any gear. Seems to work OK for a couple of miles then dies!! frown

Is this a known problem?

Check the level of the ATF, sounds like it is very low.

Simple as that?
It's at a dealer and failed when I gave a test-drive. They're currently selling on e-bay and it's on;y £100.
Body is good with very little trace of the dreaded rust-bug!
I may have another look

Sounds fluid related to me too, could be as simple as the far-too-common switch seals leaking on the 'box. Simple job and only a £30 fix.

If they're only looking 100 quid for it, I'd guess the gearbox is borked.

Low on fluid is the number 1 reason if the pilot bush is leaking, could be valve block of pump but low fluid thw first thing to check
