New wedge owner!
Discussion
So yes. I bought the black 390SE in Kent this afternoon and it's now sat on my drive. 25 years after I last owned a wedge I've got another one (it is 5 years younger than the last one to be fair!!)
Struck what I think was fair deal. Actually might be better than I thought cos I just checked out the number plater on regtransfers and looks to be worth £800-£1000

He was talking to me almost non stop on the way home burbling and popping on the overrun. Chassis is super clean. Exterior superdy duperdy clean with just minor heat marking to paint on bonnet vent. Interior clean.
Dash mint as it was freshly veneered last month from the states. Carpets mint as also fresh. A couple of bits of trim to glue (it's all coming back to me now)
Drive home raised a couple of things to be sorted but nothing major. The vendor was a really nice guy and I set out to make the whole process of haggling as fun as possible to the extent that we did a bit of Wheeler Dealer with me doing my "Well I reckon it's worth..." pitch and then throwing bundles of £1000 in twenties onto the bonnet of the car and counting them out slowly. We both had a laugh and the woman that walked past was a little non plussed - especially when I told her that Neil (the owner) was refusing to sell me his body!
To cap it all, I have never seen another wedge on the road for years and 5 minutes out of Northfleet I spot a red wedge parked up with the owner similarly slack jawed pointing at me as I drive past whilst I'm grinning like an idiot and waving back.
And so I became the 8th owner of 390SE TVR 39X

Hi smash..That was me outside the ebbsfleet FC..I had broken down!..I had a feeling that was you..One thing you need to learn with wedges ..If you see another on the side of the road..STOP..As it is very likely that they are broken down..Anyway welcome to the world of wedges..ZigaPS:The grin said it all.....
Hi henry...I was on my way to meet Chris for a coffee at the diner and as i came over the roundabout and dipped the clutch it felt like the cable had snapped..Which in fairness is a bugger but doable..On checking the cable it was all intact but the release arm was facing forward on its most forward point, It should be on its most furthest back point..I think it might be the release bearing or the arm pivot has snapped...Grim...Ziga

Oh Gawd!! Really sorry but I was following the Mrs in the Stilo ahead of me and she had the SatvNav so couldn't stop. Feeling very bad now - would it help if I said it didn't look like you were broken down? (worth a try!)PS:The grin said it all.....

Went for a sunset drive and we both agreed it was the right car to buy.
Guy in teh petrol walking past said "It sounds lovely mate!" so I shouted out I'd just bought it and he turned on his heels walking back saying "Best car Tvr ever made - I had a Tuscan and the ****ing thing fell to bits - cost me £1000s. You enjoy it it's lovely".
Me and the Mrs left that petrol station giggling like kids :-)

I do love a happy ending....
Welcome to the world of silly grins.....and yes old cars break occasionally.
Mine (to use a Top Gear Phrase) "Ran out of electricity" on my way home from Southend on Sat eve.
The nice RAC man has bypassed the fault (intermittent battery lead) and the car is now running better than it has in the last 3 years! Still got my starting issues (sticky starter we thought) but think that MIGHT be partly related, so might have just sussed 2 faults in one go.
I hope Zig gets Delilah sorted soon, knowing him he'll not have her broken for long.
I managed to get to Le Mans and back in 2010, so the car is far from "unreliable", and I've had 3 almost trouble free years so can't grumble to be honest. Things happen and we cope and move on.
Despite (like Zig) loving my V6, I'm still a little jealous of those nice V8 wedges.
