Got meself a nice shiny new version of M-shaft Money 2005.

did you upgrade?

you should have a .mbf file with all your details (well at least 2 with the back up)

Does it display the money icon? and can you open them directly

(I'd also save those somewhere else until sorted)

Can't think 2005 wouldn't read 2004 just because of history data alone!!

I've jumped from a previous version, didn't upgrade to 2004. I have some .mny files - it's these (including my backup) that it won't convert.

I can't be the first to have this issue - perhaps a trawl of Msoft.com, otherwise known as Bill's dustbin.....

I'm using the 2000 version - but have records from 1998 when I started using Money 97 - and then progressed to Money 98. I have thousands of transactions - so I would be very p'd off if the 2005 version could not use the file! Part of the value is being able to look back at old transaction history.

Do let us know how you get on with it.

went from 97 to 2000 to 2003 and 2004 no probs

can't think 2005 would be any different. The problem is elsewhere.

I'd be tempted to back everything up, uninstall and re load

Well guys somehow I solved the problem!

Searched Msoft support. I did find that there is a standard message like the one I had about not being compatible. It's to do with not having the regional settings in the same format as the backup version.

So I played around with the settings, but to no avail. Went back to installing the previous version of Money, retrieving the backup, saving again then reinstalling 2005 over the top. That bit worked. I should now have a back up of 2005 which will be read on the new PC (when I've built the little beauty...)

Thanks for your thoughts.
