I want to add a remote oil filter to my humble 280i. Can I plumb it into the existing oil cooler hoses?

I don't believe I have a oil thermostat and I don't use the car in very cold weather (South Texas remember).

Would it make any difference which side of the cooler it is plumbed into? Thanks Grady

Best to filter hot oil as there will be less pressure drop, so fit in line with the hose to cooler.
An oilstat would give an advantage in terms of warm up times and wear. They can be incorporated in the sandwich plate/oil take off point or remotely.
