Hi there,

have fitted a brand new alternator those days. battery is charging but something interessting happens when i measure the output power of the alternator. At start up the voltage supplied by the alternator is around 12v. if the car will be revved once above 2500 rpm the voltage goes up to 13.6-8 and stays there when the revvs are going back to idle or whatsoever.

i have to mention i don´t have the battery light connected at the moment.

is there any kind of start protection from the alternator that it will be slowed down
to prevent the belt from loosing grip ? or is there an electric circuit where maybe a resistor of the light or something elese is needed that the voltage from the start will be above 13.xV ?

Have tried it with a second new alternator and it shows the same behaviour....

Maybe somebody knows ?

The exciter cct feeds through the battery light, without that you need to excite the alternator by revving..

Assuming you connect a bulb of the correct wattage it should stop doing that..
