Toothache or sinus problems?

I've had the most intense pain in the left side of my face for the past day or two. I have pain in my cheekbone, jaw and moving up my head. My teeth on the same side also hurt really badly. I've had problems with sinusitis before and had to stay in hospital for 8 days when it was severe, but that was on the front of my face rather than the side.

I also have a tooth on that side which broke and had a deep filling to repair it, and I can't really distinguish whether it's my teeth that are the problem or my face. My cheekbone feels all hot inside, and the pain is off the scale. I know sinus problems can exhibit symptoms such as toothache, and for the past few days I have been sneezing like mad and have been blocked up (not today though).

I'm phoning for an emergency appointment with the Doctor this morning. I just wondered if anyone has experienced this?

I have similar problems. Low level Sinusitis for many years without much pain. Then a dentist did a pretty severe repair job with an inlay on a back tooth and since then a lot of discomfort although without the extreme pain you decsribe. My doctor gives me steroids when it's at its worst to reduce the swelling and this really limits any pain. It also causes problems on the bottom teeth as the swelling distorts the jaw. Fortunately, in this case, I live in France, so if I want to see my doctor today, I can.

So you have pain in your teeth now in addition to the sinus pain too?

In the top it's mostly confined to where the inlay went and I assumed that it hadn't worked properly but after a load of scans it's just that the roots are deep in the sinuses and so the work he did caused a reaction along with the existing sinusitis. It appears that I have polyps in my sinuses which are being controlled, allergies that are being medicated and a wonky nose that needs correcting and from time to time these three make a perfect storm. The I start to get pains in my lower teeth as well but the dentist can never find any issues and the pain isn't connected to a single tooth so he thinks that the swelling on the upper teeth is affecting my bite which causes problems to the lower teeth and it's certainly the case that when the storm in the sinuses calms down the lower jaw pain goes away slowly too. But see your doctor and dentist...
