Broken toe. How long till it stops hurting?
Discussion
Broke my big toe on Thursday evening. Definitely broken as it was x-rayed at minor injuries on Friday morning and wrapped in about 2 miles of elastoplast tape.
I'm on crutches, can't drive and have an appointment at the fracture clinic on Saturday, but I'm wondering how long before it stops hurting? Don't really like taking painkillers but it is a steady dull ache that flares up if I try to do anything. NHS Choices suggests 6-8 weeks to heal, but presumably that is for it to be fully mended?

Bad luck, did mine a couple of years ago. I don't remember being in constant pain/aching from it for more than a few days to be honest, certainly not for as long as 6-8 weeks, but it did take that long to heal properly. I think I was only on crutches for a couple of weeks and could drive after that, not sure now though. Best advice is to rest it and keep it elevated and it will heal better and more quickly.
