Intended to be or a reimported Japanese car I'd suggest.

Are you saying that TVR made a different rear end for Jap market ? Made in Blackpool or Malaysia ?
On another track - anyone notice the selection of cars in the background. Picture 3 of the listing - is that another Tiv poking its nose out ?

Yes they did as the Japanese number plate regulations require a plate that shape. Here's a picture of a Griffith with a similar type of numberplate aperture that was for sale in the USA recently.

Looks odd I agree

IIRC they made them in both Blackpool and Malaysia.

This is a Japanese export market "Chimaera Clubman" as per the sticker next to the dials.
Usually fitted with Roll Bar mounts as well as the different rear number plate moulding.
Made in Blackpool BTW.

If you've never been out this way - believe me - I can't imagine driving a car here without a) air con b) the roof down (as you are not allowed to go fast enough to get a decent cooling effect !).
Aircon over PAS everytime. Interesting to know though that the factury had a different rear mould for Asian exports. I wonder how many there are and if it was offered over all versions of the Chim throughs Mks 1 - 3).
