Have just got the car back after a lot of work, including the tunnel mod, and am getting no air through the blowers unless its turned onto '3' setting. Even then it's warm air that I'm getting even on the cold setting, even with the AC turned on.
Has anyone experienced this before?
I'm assuming the AC needs re-charging as it doesn't make any difference whether its on or off, although it did work before. Just a bit confused about getting no flow on the '1' or '2' setting?

Sounds like the fan resistor has failed.

I can't be more help, but many others know about it and i'm sure will be along shortly.

Thanks

Funny that, because just recently mine started doing the same except I've only lost fan speed 1. I thought maybe I just hadn't noticed over the last 7 years how slow 1 is, but I'm sure I'd have noticed if it was. I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that the switch itself had failed.

When my resistor pack went I lost all but 3. 3 doesn't use the resistor as that is full speed from 12v

Mine's just blowing out warm air and I figured that it must need re-gassing. Maybe it's a resistor on mine then.

Is the resistor pack from another car? Or noble only?

It's doing my head in now having either boiling full blast hot air, or off.

Is the fan actually turning on settings one and two.

When I had the tunnel mod on mine I had to block off the 2 unused input into the heater box to stop warm air being picked up from under the front clip. The tunnel mod redirects two of the front cool air inputs from the heater box to blowing down the tunnel.

I used some 63mm aquarium caps

Worth a try if the fan is making a noise.

No the fans not turning, nothing happens unless its on no.3?
Now you mention it, this has been happening since the tunnel mod was done a couple of months ago.

My heater has never worked properly in 5 years of ownership, always been 2 settings, hot or cold no matter what position the dial is at. But at least I used to have 3 speeds!

Sounds like its the resistor!
Have a look at the black box where the fan is, under the front clam. on the near side of the box there should be a small square access hole ( bit of plastic held on by a couple screws). unscrew it, then inside there are a couple wires going to a plug which is screwed on to the side of the fan, unscrew it and remove. when you turn it over you will see this is the resistor.

Looks like something you made in a school lesson,

Is it as simple as just changing a resistor? or do I need to replace the unit?

Unless you have a handy supply of nichrome wire to repair it with, you will need a new unit, if mine breaks again I will match up a proper well made potted unit.

You can change just the resistor! if your fan is fitted as mine was its a right bh to get the fan out, so i would change only the resistor! if the fan is working on speed 3 then there is nothing wrong with the fan.

Mine did exactly that from the day I bought it.

But the aircon worked too, but fan only worked on 3.

Dave at Jetstream sorted it in minutes one visit and I think it was a fairly basic relay / fuse issue but it was a massive change once Dave sorted it.

95% of the things that have gone wrong with my car (not many) have centred around electrics. Fuse / relay / battery.
Very annoying. Surely it's easy to get that right?

My Audi has so much more going on and always seems to work.....
