For work we are required to be on call.
This doesn't bother me one bit....I've been doing it for the last 7 years.

However my new firm give us 3 days notice to being on call and cannot/will not produce a rota/calender.

Now surely they have to give you some sensible warning? Trying to arrange stuff, then re-arrange it is getting stupid.

Is there anything in your contract about being on-call? If not, it's a change to your T&Cs so you would be reasonable to expect a bit more of a discussion. If there IS an option in your contract, then they can exercise that and ask you to do it. Rotas change all the time, so I wouldn't expect much notice, even at the start of a rota. However, if you had personal plans already made I'd raise this as a discussion rather than a complaint.
