Hi.

I have a friend who's petrol E230 W210 won't start. His wife thought it had run out of fuel so he put a can in but it still wouldn't fire. I have had a look and it has sparks and good fuel pressure at the regulator but nothing on the plugs despite cranking for a while. I poured a bit of fuel into the engine and it fired very briefly.

Any one know what drives the injector signals, what sensor should I be looking at. Or does any one have any other good ideas.

There are changes over the years, in the main the engine ECU controls the injection

Very good.

What is it that tells the ecu when to fire the injectors though, which sensor crank or cam or another?

The CPS, crank shaft sensor sets up the timing from the flywheel, the information goes to the engine ECU.

Sorry about the multi posting, that 3 times today

Why do I feel you're mocking us?

The car is firing the coils but not the injectors, any clues? Sorry, maybe I should ask a more precise question. Does the crank sensor fire the ignition and the cam sensor fire the injectors?

No way am I mocking anyone, no point in that and I am sorry.

You have the 111 engine, not the cam sensor as some unplug that when the cam magnet gets noisy, and the engines run fine with it unplugged.

You do have a few fuses for the engine ECU, I will take a read on the injectors shortly and see If I can find anything
