Sad news indeed. I was lucky enough to meet him a couple of times and he was one of the nicest, friendliest and most interesting people I've ever met.
We were invited to his place a couple of times with the vintage motorbikes, and he was as interested in our machines as we were in his. What should have been a half an hour visit ended up with him flying about and showing us all of his collection, including a pair of guns he'd made as an apprentice. They were housed in a box no bigger than a matchbox, which scales them! I also remember him showing me photos of a car he'd built from scratch in the 30s.
