Fuel line update
Discussion
Ok finally completed the job.
Fitted new stainless steel tubing from the rear right up to the feed inlet.
New stainless fitted from the return outlet right back to the rear chassis.
New fuel filter fitted.
Fuel pump removed, cleaned and bench tested ok.
New wiring and connections made.
New fuel hose's fitted,in the engine bay they are only 6 inches or so and easy to change has and when required.
New hoses fitted on return to tank and on filling spout.
Fuel tank level indicator removed, cleaned and tank internals inspected, all okay and refitted.
Carbon can and all pipework removed completely.
Old fuel filter fitted onto chassis, new hoses for vent system rerouted.
1 problem at finish, would not start but ran easily before starting the job.
What a pain, checked all the wiring, fuel pump relays etc etc.
After being pi----ed off for ages, found a couple of old relays laying about, fitted and fired up,bled system and what a beauty started great and no fuel smells.
Just need to go for a long run but 99.9 confident that i have cured the fault.
3 problems found after all that work that may have caused the fault.
1.The original copper fuel pipe was quite maleable, more than should be expected.
2.The feed pipe was slightly crimped where it originally ran under the body.
3.The original fuel hose fitted on the return where it goes into the bottom of the tank looked ok but was completely worn through to the inside core.
All the other original fuel hoses looked ok.
Another job well done, chassis cleaning etc here i come.
