From SELOC news...

Lotus confirms their intentions to build new £40k+ GT:

World exclusive pictures taken by Autosport in August prove that Lotus is working on a new GT which is will rival the Noble M12 for looks and performance.

A Lotus employee was quoted as saying "This is not a replacement for the Elise, but a car that offers touring capability and will be positioned above it in the market." The heart of new model's chassis will utilise the same bonded aluminium structure as the Elise with a mid-mounted engine. The exact power plant has yet to be decided, but with the recent Toyota partnership a Toyota engined car is highly likely.

The c£40,000, 300BHP car will be aimed at the GT market rather than the track day hardcore, but this is not to say it won't have the enviable handling for which Lotus cars are renowned. In fact rumour has it that the wider track and specially designed suspension will mean give it even more grip than an Elise.

Lets hope that unlike stillborn M250, this new car sees the light of day and regains some of the ground lost since the demise of the Esprit.

I swore never to buy a new Lotus again after they screwed me over on the M250 - so if they offer me 3 grand of a new car I might think about it - plus they have to make it better than the noble... I'm not holding my breath.

Did you lose your deposit? If so I was under the impression that was a dealer stealing them and not Lotus cars...

Well Lotus pulled the dealerships Franchise and as a consequance the dealer went bust and made me loose my deposit - so if you look at it like this if Lotus had not pulled the franchise I would still have my deposit - or rather it would have been refunded.

Didn't they pull the franchise because the dealership wasn't forwarding the deposits? i.e. the dealership was basically screwed anyway and using your deposits to prop itself up

Not a nice situation I agree.
