Most days I drive through the New Forest on the A31 to & from work, Just about everyday there is an old blue Polo estate parked up in one of the laybys. It's there in the evening when I go past & still in the same place in the morning. In the morning the driver is often asleep with the drivers seat reclined. Judging by the junk in the car I'm guessing the guy lives in it. He obviously goes somewhere during the day as he will be in a different spot in the evening to the morning.

In a morbid way it fascinates me what has happened to the guy or what he does. It's not as though he picks somewhere nice & quiet to sleep up of an evening.

Anyone else noticed & wondered? Or is it just my loopy brain?

Like you, I've noticed this chap who looks a bit down on his luck and wondered what his story is. I sometimes pass him driving towards Southampton so he's obviously got somewhere to go during the day. I'm surprised the Police haven't moved him on by now but I don't suppose he's doing anything wrong. I wonder if he'll still be there during the winter it must be getting a bit chilly at night even now.

He's been there for at least a year. He was there over the last winter, car steamed up, with him wrapped in a duvet or sleeping bag.

I'm far too nosey for my own good!

I would have to stop and pretend something was wrong with car and get talking that way!

I was thinking that! I guess he must be road legal, as there's a lot of traffic passing there and surely police cars too, so if he had no insurance or tax it would flag up!

Maybe he goes to work every day!

On the north side of Ringwood. Sometimes north bound, sometimes south bound. I think he might have dog now.

Got exactly the same thing on the Southbourne Overcliff Drive in Bournemouth. An old Volvo estate parked up with curtains drawn or a guy sitting in it with his dog. Over the past few weeks it has changed colour from white to matt black. I guess the boredom got to him and he had to find something to do.

Spotted that car, didn't realise it was being lived in!

I rarely do the A31 during the week, bit will look out for the other guy when I do.

He was there this morning wrapped in his duvet in the VW Polo at 7.15am.
The idea of the pizza on his birthday is good would be willing to put something towards this. Maybe we could do this once a month for him.

I wonder why he chooses that spot, safety due to being on a busy road with lots of passers by I guess. Is he there on weekends?

It's all kinda sad really. They both seem to have road legal cars but are living rough. They probably both have their reasons but it's all very unfortunate, I'm sure.

There has been a gold /beige Nissan Micra that parks in the same places you are talking about. I do the journey along the A31 to Southampton and back to Wimborne most days and it is there every time, it moves from north bound to south bound. It's there every time I go past and all sorts of times. I believe the guy has a dog too. Was wondering if everyone else has noticed. Maybe wondering if this is the same guy with a different car???
