confused

996 02 40k miles. All good except when I unlock it frequently gives me 2 beeps on the horn which i would only expect when locking not unlocking and if there was an issue like door or whatever still open. Also, whether I open drivers door from inside or outside, when I pull the handle the window drops as expected but then often - not always - before I shut door window rises back up that few millimetres and prevents door closing. You then have to fiddle with it to get it to drop which sometimes it does and others it doesn't. Passenger door fine, all other electrics fine. Is it, or am I confused. Can it be reset? On my mustang, this can happen and theres a simple procedure you can go through to put it right. Handbook silent on subject. Am tempted to disconnect battery for a minute or two to attempt reset
Any ideas?

Apparently microswitch in door handle is playing up.

I had that but it went away by itself. Common issue. Bit of a pain.

Some say that enthusiastic washing or heavy rain could damage the switch, I don't know, since it fixed itself I did not take the matter any further.

My Boxster exhibited these symptoms and the problem turned out to be a bad door lock assembly. Kind of pricey as it is the most expensive of the various lock/window related electronics in the door but the problem is what it is.

I lived with the inexplicable double beep, the door locks locking on their own, but when the window started going up on its own after I had opened the door, or worse after a passenger had opened the door, it only took a few horrific impacts of the top of the window against the top rail that had me closing my eyes and flinching expecting a shower of glass fragments that drove me to take the car in and have the tech diagnose just what was going on.

One news 996 door lock later and its all fixed. The window was dropping on drivers side when I opened door but returning to full height afterward which meant I couldn't close door again. I ordered a new door lock from ebay, same as boxster and a complete bar steward to fit but it is do-able. There are some you tubes etc showing how it is done but they gloss over the difficult bits it is fiddly but its done and it's luvverly.
