Changing name on NHS records?
Discussion
I recently married and my wife has taken my name, so we updated our records at the local surgery but today we received a letter from the NHS in her maiden name.
How do we update her name with them? I had a search online but couldn't find anything that helps so hoped someone in the same position would have some advice!
Cheers

It needs a member of the GP surgery staff who uses a 'smartcard' to update "the NHS" with your good news - it sounds like the member of staff who updated your (collective) records did not have a 'smartcard' (I don't as I'm only a temp in the NHS) and therefore only the local (surgery) records would be updated if they are 'smartcard'-free; when another staff member with a 'smartcard' then accesses your records a 'mismatch' between the (updated) local info and the (older) national info is flagged up... Hopefully they are on-the-ball-enough to realise that the local (updated) info is correct and press the appropriate button to update the national info (your wife's new name and marital status - and new address?).
It might be worth a visit to your local GP surgery to make sure the local info (at the surgery - they did take copies of the marriage certificate??
) is correct and to ask for someone with an NHS 'smartcard' to access your records and update the national record. I guess that your wife isn't a "frequent flyer" at the GP surgery, and hasn't been back since she updated her name and marital status (and address?).
Just that you mention that "the MHS" sent a letter with your wife's old details
