One of the seemingly endless list - the strap hasn't worked for years and the battery won't go anywhere, but you have to humour your MoT man...

The strap has perished but the ends are good. So where to get some webbing that's stretchy? I don't think my old favourite the cut-up bicycle inner tube is man enough for this one....

Yes I must have one I got off my old rangey. Couple that with a rubber section and it might just work!

My fuel tank in the rally car was strapped down with seatbelt webbing.
It is extremely strong stuff.

In fact on my first wedge many moons ago, I just rammed some thick rubber sheets all around it. I quote my TVR friendly tester...."It's not right but I am not going to fail this beauty over that"

Same, made this.....

Made the ally tray with rubber mounts and a ratchet strap to hold the battery tight.

Mine just has a couple of thick pieces of sponge to stop it sliding around.

Nah, it was me 350i Adam, can't say I ever looked at the battery on the SX, being honest I didn't have the bonnet up much as nothing went wrong with it. All it ever had off me was oil and filters as I told you and your kid when I sold it. It was solid the SX, cracking beast of a wedge.

Or did I treat it to a battery....Hmmm

If your not happy with it I will take it back off you....PLEEEAAASSEEEE!!!!

MY Battery strap perished years ago. Battery is only held in by the stiffness of the battery cables. Never had any MOT issues. I think though its time to have a look at a more secure option. Im thinking of riviting some seatbelt webbing to the fibreglass with some nice large washers to spread the load & then use a quick release / tighten buckle.

Due to having to use an MX5 gel battery..(Lack of space) i had a box made up from stainless with some strap slots..I then used some webbing and a buckle that i found on an old sports bag that i had..I used high torque mastic to stick it down....Ziga

Very true..But its pretty powerful, Beside when i was looking for a suitable one i couldnt get one with enough power that fitted in the gap..I found one that was 163mm wide which would of been perfect but the space for the battery is tapered and is 163mm at the rear and 160mm at the front..banghead
Its for an MX5 and is a gel no maintenance battery..If it goes flat then you get someone to jump start you and it charges lovely from the alternator, You do need a low charge charger but if it goes flat then they need a bigger shock to get them to charge..Ziga
