HI just after some advice please

I have 17” ET35 7J wheels on my car and the gap between the inside of the wheel rim and the shock is about 10-12 mm, I tried another set of wheels I had in the garage 18” ET35 8.5J. The gap with the 18” between the rim and shock is about 2-3 mm (this is not a tyre/width height issue just the rim)

The 18” will turn and rotate without any rubbing of the tyre/rim and the shock but it just seemed a bit too close.

Should I buy 10mm spacers? If I add these I will lose the lip on the hub that the wheel is located on to, is this a problem as well.

Both sets of wheels are made my Mercedes and the car is a CLK W209.

Even with suspension movement the wheel will come no closer to the shock than that surely?

(Sorry, didn't mean to call you Shirley.)

Your right it does not, My mechanic friend said it was fine because there will be no movement unless you have a bad wheel barring or a bent wheel.

Its been fine the last 3 weeks and no rubbing has happened, MOT soon so another chance to check all is ok.
