2014 f1 calendar - initial reaction

Hi all,

What do think of the proposed 2014 f1 calendar - mentions on following autosport article that Mexican gp returning about new jersey circuit won't happen next season...

Personally I think 21 is too many. It waters down the specialness of the individual events for me.

I am aware many disagree, but its just my Point of View.

Room for another 31 races yet,Bernie will be trying for two a week,when the year is full.

More races are all good for the spectator but not for the teams. They are maxed out doing the amount of races on the calendar already.

21 races is far too many! None of the other world Motorsports get a look in, and as a result all try and avoid F1, and end up all clashing – if only the FiA were still in charge of the F1 calendar.

I think that is Bernies plan. Get in early and saturate the weekends with your event before anyone can get a foothold.

It is almost as if he's after every penny he can get before selling the rights, and has no though for the future. But that would be silly of course.

Looks like a road trip to the Austrian Gp is on the cards for me next year

Really pleased that there are alot of races just before the summer break. This year it I think it went race weekend, three week gap, race weekend, summer break.

Too much of a gap between races, one a fortnight from March until the summer break, and the same afterwards til the end suits me better. Found my interest had waned this summer with the long gaps

wasnt there a drive towards cost cutting a few years ago. . . but now there are more races ?? perhaps Ecclestone needs a few extra quid for his pending get out of jail free card so to speak

Any team that scores a point in the previous season gets freight and transportation paid by FIM to the fly away races. Currently Caterham and Marussia have to pay their freight costs.

Lots of races but they start and end the season in different time zones.....
Personally I don't rate Monaco or Hungry as great tracks for racing on either.

Monaco will NEVER be dropped.

But I can suggest at least 5 other venues.

if it was the original Austrian track and the hermanos rodriguez circuit, that would be two of the best circuits back on the calendar.

I have to say I do miss the last race being in Australia or Japan , something about being the die hard F1 fan up for the 3 O'Clock shift and memories of the 80's/90's Hill , Mansell and Senna years

not fussed about the banked corner, but the section from the hairpin to the back straight is one of the beat in GP history. comparable with the rouen downhill sweeps, the hatzenbach, maggotts-becketts and the craner curves.

Mexico seems decidedly up-in-the-air but...

The week before the proposed Mexican GP date is the Day of the Dead festival. We've already decided to head to Austin for the Texan GP with a couple of mates, but doing Mexico the weekend before kind of makes sense too now.

Best get saving...
