I've gone Insane Part 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Discussion
Following my thread a few weeks ago about my new Renault 5 GT Turbo
(mrzigazaga's favourite car
) I have come to the conclusion that modern cars are BORING as hell to drive
I say this as I currently own 3 cars...2005 BMW 530D M SPORT MANUAL, TVR 390 SE and my other little toy, a RENAULT 5 GT TURBO
Upon returning from hols last week and not driving a car for a week, the first few days back I couldn't stop using the wedge.
Fantastic, it was like I had just bought it again and what with all this lovely weather I loved every second of it. Now I'm using the Renault too as more or less my daily driver when time does not permit me to use the wedge but the BM has not had a look in at all apart from the school run and it's only being used for this as Nicola hates the Renault with avengence !!!!
The BM is a lovely, comfortable car with plenty of power but it just sits there.
My neighbours think I'm mad, "Don't you like the BMW ???" they say.
But I have come to the conclusion that yes, I'm partly insane but also modern cars are BORING to drive, with no soul.
My "french tin can" (that one was for you Mark
) is a real hoot to drive. No PAS, no ABS or anything poncy like that, oh no sir, just a tin can with a 1.4 TURBO charged engine in it. Running about 13psi of Boost. Excellent, what fun
You will be happy to know though that I have fallen in love with the wedge again though
and it is still my number one toy followed by the tin can. For driving enjoyment though the BM is last....sorry BMW......
Anyone else feel the same about modern cars ???????

Clearly Nicola has decent taste in cars..
I drive an E46 320d Touring daily, and I don't find it dull as such. It's good fun to drive tbh and does 50mpg. I wouldn't say it had character though.. However, it is perfect for what I need. Will eat long journeys and sips fuel, but stir it up a bit and it can be a laugh.

Good fun to drive
what's fun about it ???I used to own a E46 330d prior to my E60 and it was nice to drive but not fun. IMHO big difference.
Now you can't tell me that a Cerbera is not more fun than your oil burner or have you gone insane too (welcome to the club).

Quite right too (apart form her dislike of my GT Turbo which was manily due to the heavy clutch I think although she would not admit that
) as my wife's car is a classic mini cooper sport which I hasten to add I used to own. Give me an old car anyday....anyone want to buy a nice BMW ???

Cerbera would have been more fun, but I couldn't have dropped the wheels off in that....
the very first car I had was a black gordini turbo - largely the same engine as latter GT albeit suck through rather than blow through turbo. It was hilarious fun! So much so my brother bought one as well and a mate had one too. i have a picture somewhere of all three parked up in formation Black-Red-Black with us sat on the bonnest taken around 1986 . . .
There is a mint blue Gordini Turbo up for sale on retro rides at £3800 and I must admit I was sorely tempted!!
