Hi all,

Does anybody have any ideas on what tyre pressures i should be running in my Yoko A539 165/60/12's. I've taken a guess at around 33PSI It handles fine like this but guess work isn't the best way to go about tyre pressures.

Anywhere between 20 to 30 psi is acceptable, you can tailor the pressures to adjust the way the car handles, although higher pressures will make the steering lighter.

I currently run 28psi in the front and 26psi in the back of mine, which runs on 13" A539's.

Sorry, thread hijack in progress..........

Interesting, I tend to run my 13" Yoko's the other way round....... 26-28 front and 28-30 rear. Perhaps I like the back end a bit more lively !!

My understanding is that higher tyre pressures increase grip, to a point. Depending on your suspension set up, but generally minis understeer so i run a higher pressure on the front. If you have a really light back end, with stiff coil overs then oversteer is more likely. I run mine at 30psi on the front and 26 on the back.

Thanks again,

The back end of mine is very light, no subframe etc, so i run the rears slightly lower but it is still extremely lively, oversteer anywhere at any speed. However i also have a 160hp kad engine in the front so it needs to be fairly controllable.

On a lighter note I realised i had clamped one of the rear brake hoses between the damper and the radius arm when i had a rear wheel lock up at 90mph, that was exciting to say the least....broadside on a straight road

Dan,
Do you have any pics of your car. I'm really interested in the KAD engines although i can't afford one at the mo. Do you run a standard front sub? If so how does it deal with the extra power? Do you run the six pot radial mount KAD calipers and rear disc conversion kit?... I'll stick with my stage 3 1380 for the time being

Hi jamie, do you have msn? I have loads of pictures and it might be easier to send you a pic via messenger? And answer any questions you might have.

We ran the Mighty Mini on those tyres, we aimed for a hot tyre pressure of 40psi (which generally meant starting at about 38 rear 34 front on a dry track)
not much use to you if you are looking at road use though I'm afraid
