I remember someone said that the Internet option is included free for 12 months - just double checked on this and had confirmed it is not included and is a £90 option...

that`s correct. The car does have it own sim card for things like street view on the sat nav, and so it can call the emergency services and BMW if you crash it. Plus other features, but no internet brower

Waste of time IMO. Slow, awkward to use and has a built in content filter ;-)

Ok thanks for the opinion .. Like the Entertainment online option though, especially now it supports Napster which I have on my sonos.

there was some chat in another thread about this a few days ago. Someone made mention of an iPhone app that lets you control some car functions remotely. I immediately through how good it would be on a cold snowy morning to remotely start the car and get the heated seats on. Is any of this possible, or just internet chatter?

I agree, I specced it on my car and only used it once, much easier to use your phone.

The app is called My BMW Remote. I have it but have never used it. You can lock/unlock your car, sound horn, flash headlights etc.

The app works reasonably well - you can also pre-heat / cool your car. There is a fairly long delay between hitting the "button" on your phone and the car responding.

The app feature I use most often is the "Google local search" which you can then send to the car nav. It's a simpler alternative to the online search through the Nav.

Vehicle position on the app used to be useful when it wasn't limited to very local range (eg it could tell you where your car was whilst you laid on a beach abroad having left it with a valet parking outfit)

Hi,

Picked up my LCI F10 today.
- Have connected the app via a cable to the car.

Has done its thing.
- app works when cabled.

No remote heat button etc...
- Did I miss something off the option list? Anything I can retrofit enable with coding?

Thanks in advance
Paulo

Thanks guys, this doesn't seem like it offers much other than novelty value at this stage. Maybe BMW will develop it further in the future

Think it was me that mentioned this in another thread. I was told that in the pre LCi cars you could only lock/unlock the car using this app, however on the LCi cars the functionality has been increased to include pre heat/cool.

No idea if this is correct or not & will have to wait until i get my car to find out for sure. Got both Apps (BMW Connected & My BMW Remote) but am resisting opening the apps until i get the carsmile

Pre-heating surely isn't viable without a remote start right?
- diesel cars can have a pre-heater fitted.
