Inlet manifold - oil leak?

Hi Steve,
Could it be from where the rocker cover gasket overlaps the valley gasket?
If it's protruding too much the "knife edge" can cause a tiny slit in the cork & allow an oil leak down the back ( or front ) of the engine.
Or if the valley gasket has become brittle, a little piece can break off below the top surface of the joint faces, and again allow a path for oil to leak.
Remove rocker covers & have a look.
In both cases, clean with solvent & seal with a bit of silicone gasket seal.
It worked for me. ( 2.8 )
Mind you, I've still got a small leak on top of the inlet manifold under the plenum on the nearside, resulting in two little pools in the casting wells.
I can't fathom where that is coming from, pretty sure it's not the rocker gasket.

It's in the recess forward of the distributor but behind the inlet manifold. Can't photograph too easily as its is bit awkward to get at. Hope it's rocker / inlet manifold gasket interface. Is oil pumped into the inlet manifold for any reason?

No, it is pumped up through each head and then through one of the rocker shaft pedestals to lube the rockers. Any oil around the inlet manifold will be what's splashed about by the cam.
OK Mike, but how would that oil end up on the exterior of the engine, in the casting wells on the top of the inlet manifold? I can't envisage an oil pathway to that area I'm pretty certain I've cured the leakage from the rocker cover gaskets & inlet manifold valley gasket.
No more leaks on Barry's drive anyway.

If you are sure it is not rocker cover related (and this is only a "guess" as I am not familiar with the 2.8 engine and its breather pipe set-up) could it be breather fumes from a leaky pipe condensing ? Cannot think of any other way, at seven o'clock on a Sunday morning, that oil should be that "high up" on an engine?
The sun is rising, looks like its going to be a nice morning for a drive out to the TVR pre 80's meet

I shall investigate further.
