Morning all,

I'm running 13x6 wheels 185/60 R13 tyre all round.

I looking to buy new tyres and considering 185/60 on the front and 205/60 on the back to give me a bit more stability and gearing.

Car is running a K with about 175bhp which I'm told is on the cusp of running an 8in rear wheel, but would rather not change wheels at the moment. Staggered tyres an option?

I've not tried a 205 on a 13x6 but I have use 'over-sized' tyres on a non Caterahm car. It was not a good idea as the tyres tend to run on their edge, gave a loose feel, and not the expected grip. But on a light car, like the Caterham, that may not be so obvious.

A long time ago, when 6" and 7" Superlite wheels were all that were available, this was common practice.

I run just such a set-up on my Fury with 185/65R and 205/60 Yoko A048s on Superlite 6x13" rims - works a treat.

I run my 190bhp Zetec on the road with 185/70/13 on 6" rims all round and find it handles perfectly well, but on track when sprinting I run either 215s or 235s on 8" rims.
