Annoying forum bug, Can it be fixed please?

If you create a new post, and change the icon to anything other than 'none' and save the post, then the icon shows above as expected.
But go back and edit the post, save it, and you find that the icon is automatically removed, and set to none.
Mods, please, please can you fix this?
I'm guessing you could use a cookie for this?
