The position of the front towing eye is set back a good 500mm under front end. I think a towing pole could do damage to a cerb, but will stand corrected if it has been pulled off safely.

I have sort of done it. I used a towing pole and then a fabric strap through the towing eye on the car. It worked and did not damage the car but every time the tow car braked the pole would hit the floor. I travelled less than a mile. Not sure I would do it for a ten mile run.

The towing eye is also reversed which makes a pole even more of a pain.
