''Fly-in'' Restaurant

Does anyone know of any restaurants that are built with an airstrip, huge longshot I know, but I've heard there are a few places where they welcome helicopters to be flown in, wondered if there was anything for us fixed wing folk...

Until I get my CPL(H) that is...

Not come across anything in the UK that rivals this place we found in Italy - www.tenutatannoja.com
We thought it was just a grass strip, then discovered the whole hotel/restaurant that was attached. Technically it was closed, the chef was off, but they made us the Best Lunch Ever and sent us on our way full of mozarella and parma ham. Fantastic.

restaurant may be a stretch but you can get food at wellesbourne, skegness, gloucester, shobdon to name a few

Wellsbourne has a good cafe next to it. Very popular with bikers.

You sit 50 meters or so from the runway, and the planes taxi right past the outdoor eating area on their way in/out.

Fly up to Glenforsa. The Glenforsa hotel is right next to the runway and Bredan and Allison will provide you with excellent food.

Certainly a better option than just bimbling about for a £100 dog burger from a portacabin!

Do you pilot types have any issues with drink flying? I'm assuming there aren't airborne plod hiding behind every cloud, so can you just get smashed at any of these restaurants and fly home with impunity?

Happens in Aussie. In the remote stations when your neighbour is 15km and everyone has an airstrip not unusual to fly over for a meal, few glasses of wine and then fly home again.

There's one at White Waltham. Not been there so can't comment on the standard of the fare.

Guess the OP is asking for a restaurant with an airstrip, rather than an airstrip with a restaurant (the quality of which is very variable).

Plenty with helipads, but might be worth someone checking out a copy of Lockyears Farm Strips
