Can anyone find my cat?!

Hi guys,
My late S3c has a very rattly cat. Having waded through the info re legality of de-catting, MOT emissions regs, annual ECU re-maps / refitting cats for MOTs and so on I think I have concluded the following: I have to have cats in place for the MOT ( my car was registered in Feb 93), I don't want to have to refit the ones I have every year to get through an MOT, and therefore I need to either find some new cats or maybe repair the rattly one I have (I have found a place in the West Mids who offer this service, but I would prefer somewhere closer to home and have no idea if a repair is a sensible option). I can't source the original part so far (not sure what they were - Ford? TVR?) and the only aftermarket versions I can find are fast road / race ones in stainless, which would cost me about £700 for a pair. Can anyone offer any help re sourcing new / recon (cheaper) cats or would the repair route be ok?
