We all know that experts can use a stone or steel to sharpen knives so sharp they can cut atoms in half, but if you are like me who

1. Has no time
2. Is frankly quite useless at sharpensing anything even a pencil.
3. Spends 30 minutes only to find it is just as bad as always and the tears turn the drystone into a whetstone.

Then please please swallow your pride, never admit to it and buy something like this

I got one years back and still it can do all my knives in 30 mins.

They are sharp enough to pass the acid test, which is not slicing a tomato or such into 10 000 slices but just throwing it into the dishwashing bowl without telling anyone. Have blue plasters to hand as your other half starts washing up.... whistle

Don't tell any maestro knife sharpeners on FDR I said so. Ssshhh. Mums the word.

£11.99 is a bit cheaper (and does the job bloody well!)

Why would you need 30 mins to sharpen a knife? Just give it a quick (10 seconds) run with a steel each time before you use it and it'll stay tip top. If a knife goes completely blunt then it's too late for the steel so take it to your butcher and ask him to put a new edge on it properly.

I just use a steel on mine and when they get totally knackered (by Mrs HD using them inappropriately) I put a new edge on them with my bench grinder in the garage.

I use an indian oil stone once a week and steel ,which only keeps the edge on it then I use a knife for a living.
TBH I could'nt when I first started as a butcher, it just takes pratice.
HTH.
