MSD, the famed Texan ignition equipment company has filed for voluntary chapter 11 protection against bankruptcy proceedings today. I don't follow American law but this doesn't sound good whichever way you look at it.

A blow, yes but Chapter 11 is commonplace in the US and many firms survive it - over 80 pct. of them.

It will certainly be a blow to anyone they owe money to ...

From the press release, "These steps do not include a fire sale of MSD, Racepak, SuperChips, or Edge parts. It does not include selling off equipment. The company as a whole however is for sale and currently in negotiations. This is why MSD Performance filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection."

Notice the last word in the paragraph, it means protection from bankruptcy not bankruptcy. It facilitates the release of funds to allow the company to continue trading as it is refinanced via the sale.

i recently sent my racepak back for repair, they got it on friday morning, repaired by luchtime,e.mailed me with an a appology and sent it out that day ALL FREE OF CHARGE. Now thats what i call service!
