I am looking at a Tamora for sale today which is already modified with a T350 front and recently saw a photo of one without the diffuser which looked stunning in my opinion. Does anyone know the car I am going to see:

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

and can anyone post a link to photos of the diffuser less car, which I think must have been posted here somewhere? From memory it was Red Bull or Imperial blue. Thanks.

I think the car you refer to is/was owned by Nightspirit, I'm on a Blackberry and checking profiles is a pain in the ass, so I can't be 100% sure

Yes, and now I'm very pleased to confirm that it is mine biggrin

Looks great in my opinion and having followed it when driven by a friend tonight, the look of the rear diffuser is growing on me, although I would still like to see the picture of one with it removed if someone can find it. From memory the exhaust back box had been highly polished and the number plate didn't obscure it. New car needs a little work, but I'll start a new thread when I'm home tomorrow night...

Hi there, I recently bought a Tamora too, and wasn't overly impressed with the standard exhaust heat shield thing that the number plate mounts to.

I have designed a bright Stainless Steel finisher that is perforated with 5mm holes and looks a bit like a machine gun mussel (kinda goes with the sound of the car on overrun!)

My drawings went to the fabricators and I'm hoping to have it finished and on the car by next weekend. But perhaps if I post a picture and there is some interest in the design I can have some more made.

Incidentally, I really struggled to find pics of other mods to this area or anyone selling alternative for this item?

Yes, let me see the pics & price and I might be in. WIll need to get my cans polished though..... Yours look like Racing Green/Powers cans - they are loud and you will go deaf, especially if you have decats as well!

Hi Shep1001,

I have just fitted the Racing Green sports exhaust, which is nice after it's warmed up. Looking for some de-cats now.

Everyone tells me they will be too loud, and a lot of dealers trying to put me off, but I had a Chim with straight pipes and used to race cars so for me the louder the better! I'm probably just seen as a hooligan think!

So I have a standard Tamora exhaust going if anyone needs one, and I'm in need of some de-cat pipes if anyone is selling them ?

Will post pics of the heat shield as soon as I get it back from the fabricators!

I have finally found the photo I was after, but I can't paste it here. It is halfway down page 14 on the 'exterior colours' thread. Car is grey but looking at it now I see he doesn't have a number plate fitted and may just have taken the diffuser off for the photo...

I will use a short number plate, so I'm wondering how a vinyl plate would look on the boot itself? Has anyone done this? I could then potentially leave off the diffuser and tidy up the back end as in the photo (be great if someone can post it here) This is a link to the thread...

thumbup Personally the vinyl plate idea would look awful, the ass on the Tamora is a bit 'marmite' anyway the plate would be just too much. I guess it would be a non starter anyway as the plate needs to be illuminated and the lights are underneath the boot edge illuminating the face of the heat shield. Also it depends on what exhaust you have too, some makes like Power & RG have two cans rather than a box - like the black one.

Good points! The car has a standard exhaust at the moment, although I may get a sports one. I'll have a think about the rear end options...

Here is a shot of the original prototype Tamora, with out Diffuser and rear spoiler.
When visiting the factory in 2003, i was already thinking of buying a Tam so needed more info about the car.
When testing the original prototype the handling wasn`t as secure as it should have been, by fitting the Diffuser, rear spoiler and then matching the shocks and springs to suit, TVR succeeded in transforming the beast into the superb car it is today.
So IMO taking away one of those ingredients could? destroy the balance of the car.
As i remember Chris you had a wayward handling Chim hehe so you dont want a dodgy Tam biggrin

Welcome to the best, out of the box, TVR, money can buy thumbup

Wow that is an ugly mutt. Thank goodness they had issues with the handling or we wouldn't have ended up with the Tamora we have today.

Notax the Tomora you are looking at is very nice machine... loving the interior and the350 front end. That is on my bucket list for the distant future having just got TVR Power to install a 4.3. Its just had its 1000 mile 1st service and I'm able to drive it to the max after running it in...it's mental.

As for the heat shield/exhaust I'm working on something different over the winter with he help of a local exhaust company I'll obviously post pickys when it's done. What ever you do don't go down the vinyl rear no plate route It will look a dog!

I agree, that does look awful and pleased to hear that the diffuser does serve a purpose against my expectation! The look is actually growing on me, but I do have various other queries and one potentially big problem, please see new thread...

Just because a combination of changes made the car more stable means that the diffuser works . I would be amazed if it added to any downforce . It looks like it is going to add lift .

How did you do that please?
as per the other pic of my car on this thread i stripped underskirt off, i fitted this shiny new sports exhaust and wanted to a get more air to it and B to show off exhaust.
I took the horrible blue shield and cut it down to number plate width and cut sides in .
i did it with junior hacksaw and loads and loads of rubbing down until it actually started to shine
then metal polish.
I took the opportunity to repaint the tray which was horrible then covered all the black bits with carbon fibre wrap which was so much easier to keep clean.
the finished car was wrapped in audi pearlescent white .
too bad the images are too big to load, but it was well covered in previous posts.
