Yesterday, my 300CE 24 went for it's first MOT of my ownership and passed with nothing more than the headlamp needing adjusting and a slightly slack handbrake so I was happy with that. That means I'll be keeping it at least another year so there a couple of things I'd like to get sorted.

Occasional low revs misfire when cold. This doesn't happen at all if the car is being used regularly, but what happens is the car will start fine then you drive a couple of miles and below around 2000 rpm the engine will seem like it's not running on all cylinders and it's difficult to increase revs. It clears after a few minutes, and is bought on by being in slow traffic generally, it's not a problem if you can give the engine a few revs from the off.

Electric sunroof sticking. You can hear the motors working but it refuses to move from the closed position.

Any ideas as to what may be causing these problems?

Thanks for looking.

Condensation in the distributor. New distributor cap should fix it. If feeling flush, replace rotor and leads as well.

Sunroof cable has become detached from the sunroof at the sunroof end. Pain to fix because you have to loosen the headlining.

Thanks for the reply R129, I shall give the distributor cap a go.

Re. the sunroof, it is currently not moving but prior to that it was working intermittently, so I don't think it's the cable.

I've just manually opened it and lubricated the tracks in the sunroof, maybe this may help.

Cheers.

Get a decent distributer cap (Beru), the cheap ones are trouble! Check where the lead goes into the coil while you're at it, that can furr up (clean with wd40/toothbrush).

Thanks for that.

Sunroof update - the motor is making a noise but not turning, so hopefully this might be a problem with the motor itself.

Sunroof now working, I sprayed a load of wd40 around the motor and sunroof mechanism in the boot with the motor running and it now works perfectly. I've also lubricated the tracks in the roof.

Thanks for the replies.

You can buy special sunroof grease from a dealer, apparently it's the best thing to keep them lubricated.
