... retest booked!

- Rebuild the screenwash pump! (Well I am tight)
- Brakes sorted - new front pads and new fluid all through. Feel much better.
(Rear bleeding needed the nipple ublocking - it had gummed up a bit - could really do with a nipple cover.)
- Greased up the rear UJ's but otherwise ignore the failure - I can't see a problem.
- Strap for the battery made from old seatbelt (I used the old anchor lug on the end, too, nice job.)
- Steering rack gaiter fitted (universal type - fits really well)

I sorted out some of the advisories along the way but read pads must be done soon.

I may take the car up there before the retest to find out the beef on the rear UJ's.

Yeah but.... this one has lasted 6 years and is the only one I've had that didn't split during freezing weather. It turned out that it was only the bearing that knackered and needed a lube. If I bought a Halfrauds one (£2.50 plus a fiver in petrol) it would probably spill its guts at the next frost.

Cheers - fingers crossed!

My list is down to no failures and I've knocked half of the advisories on the head. I had the car at the garage this morning for a pre-check and the chap agreed the UJ's will now pass and the brake pedal is sorted.

I shall have to do the rear pads soon only a couple of mm of compound left but the pads are here so that can be done any time.

For screenwash I use good old watter and w/u liquid, but occasionally flush the system out with bleach. Strangely, I get a bacterial growth in the system despite the fact that the w/u stuff is antibacterial, which gums stuff up. Kills 99% of all known germs except the ones that grow on Wedges!

I can't wait to get the blower chewing on the cool September air!

I have my pass! Only 10 advisories (including "Oil Leak" well it's a british sportscar innit???)

How about you Cambelt?

At least next year I will have until September to get it through which will mean the full summer's driving.
