After being out on Track in Kev's car on low boost, I think I've decided to keep the car for good now (was considering getting the Exige V6 in a few yrs time).

I've done quite a bit already to mine so I think I'll edge to eventually having it set up for the odd hill climb event as I think these are less stressful on the car, but will probably still do 2 or 3 TDs also.

Next year will be GT25s, Grooved Discs, suspension and maybe corner weighting. Possibly new interior but there has been recent talking from a new member for new seats so might wait to see where that goes before doing anything.

After that there are quite a few other mods to consider.

probably worth thinking about going 3.0

keep your eye out for a 3.0 engine, you could build one up slowly and go for 600 hp wink

Your right I could and might be worth thinking about in a few yrs as it will take that long I think to get car sorted so spare money will be used for that.

Yeah and prob out of my league, but I do like the idea of getting another 2.5 and box sorted over time and maybe think about different internals to what I have now.

What would be the thing to wear over time on an engine, already have upgraded bearing etc and forged ceramic coated pistons. Engine was rebuilt at 42k miles and I've already put almost 13k on it. I'm thinking clutch will be the first thing to go so might start with sorting a new box out?

there are companies in the usa who can turn a 2.5 into a 3.0

but not sure the head gasket seal will be perfect for turbocharging

Are all the 3.0 a converted 2.5 engine or is there a 3.0 engine made by ford that will fit straight in

Will add I will be going the 3.0 and six speed box route very soon with any luck
Have been in both the 3.0 has a lot more scope and will be aiming for 400/400 once up and running

My 2.5 is 410 but ur right as the most we can get is up to about 450.

If its the same block then why isn't it a straight swap if you stick with 5spd?

Have been chatting with Matt and Dave as engine and gearboxes are popping up can swap it all over for around the 9k make maybe a bit less with everything to do the whole job in one.
When you take into account the cost of all the little bits need its a quick and possable a cheaper option.

As far as I know you can keep the 5-speeder as it's pretty strong and enough for 400/400 (but with an LSD), I found having the linkage adjusted and lubricated correctly gives a good a change as the standard 6 speed. I've not tried the m400 linkage but this is supposed to be much better, either way my 5 speeder is good enough for me and the ratios seem spot on for the power band (380/380 BTW).

Yes the 5 speed will work with the 3.0 but if I wanted more I would have to go for the 6 speed so looking to safe time

So, are we saying that a 3.0 engine will drop straight in to a 2.5 with no fuss if mates to a 5 spd and all the extra work / cost is if u fitted a 6 spd?

You will need heads as well to get the best out of the 3.0 but other than that will go right in with minimum hassle .
Full list of parts are
Inlet and exhaust manifolds
Heads and uprated conrods

I will build a full 3.0 uprated engine as a spare but we are talking over yrs here as I have plenty to finish on the car as it is.
