Are these Damsons....

They look like damsons. Make jam. Or wine. Or eat them. Or damson clafoutis.

They will turn to mush when you thaw them and are probably best frozen with the stones removed, it tends to taint them if they are left in.

My mother-in-law used to make damson and apple crumble but would leave the stones in the damsons. Every fking time I would bite into multiple stones. Maybe I'm just stupid but I now believe damsons to be the work of the devil and should be killed with fire.

Alternatively, you could remove the stones before making something with the little fkers. They are quite tasty!

They look like damsons to me (and we went to our damson "larder" near Cosford this afternoon to check their progress - still not ripe).

Don't worry about freezing them with stones in. We picked about 15lbs of them two years ago, a couple of days before we went on holiday for two weeks and we stuck them in the freezer. They produced some very acceptable damson wine.

Are they fully ripe just yet? Ours still have a few weeks to go... hopefully they'll get there as the trees are groaning under the weight of them (and we got none at all last year).

Could be Quetsch. They grow a lot around here and look like big damsons. Flesh inside is yellow and they make good jam and tarts but I've never tried Quetsch Gin - but if it works let me know.
