As a change from the many threads about problems with Astons, to some of which I have contributed, I feel in a good mood after my drive this afternoon so thought I'd post a message about how glad I am that I have my car.

Having had lots of fun with the sport button, which is now switched on by default, I decided to try track mode. What a difference! No more traction light illuminating. The car actually feels faster but that is probably wishful thinking. I spent about forty minutes just driving around rather than going straight home.

I was having so much fun. I stopped to fill up and a woman and her young son walked past as I got back to my car on the forecourt and she said what a lovely car. Her son was looking inside so I asked if he would like to sit in it and his face lit up. He pushed and pulled with every switch and button. His mum said he'd be telling his friends at school tomorrow. This has never happened in any other car I've owned.

For the whole drive I just kept smiling to myself. The noise, the acceleration and the power just make you want to push harder. When I got home I sat down and said to my wife 'I love that car'.

Yes, I have some things that need sorting, and some things that just shouldn't have slipped through QA. But once behind the wheel it all seems to diminish.

I love owning my Aston and more importantly I love driving it.

Simon, what a very welcome thread. Absolutely nothing wrong with the others detailing tales of woe, because things are not perfect but, and it is a big but, many, many people are still in love with all that the brand stands for and continue to thoroughly enjoy their cars. Mine, for example, took a trip to work last week. I've just started at a new Squadron, and the reception was as you would expect. But for me, it's purely about how I feel when I'm in it. Currently, I feel lucky to own such a beautiful car. Hopefully, this time next week, I'll be sitting in a BR modified bullet that will only add to the grin.

There's so much going for this marque and it just needs some TLC at the very highest level. Down at my rather lower level, everything is just peachy. thumbup

What V8woollie and Bincenzo said.

Driving the Aston is a fantastic experience. Last weekend I got stuck in a megajam, then had to slowly work my way out through various unpicturesque parts of North Lanarkshire. Even in those unpromising circumstances, where you certainly don't want to engage track mode, just being in the car was a delight. It also gave me a bit of time to try to work out how the Satnav/Infotainment systems worked.

We've had a great week doing 2.2k miles round the Highlands in all weathers and with some great reactions.
The best was the coach load of americans drooling and puzzling over it, once I told them what it was one smart arse came out with "ahh an inexpensive piece of machinery" hehe

Refreshingly well said Simon and its true a lot of us have headaches to over come but they really fade into insignificance
when you go for a drive or just stand back look, listen and admire.

We should all remember just how lucky we are to have the privilege to be in the stewardship of these lovely things.

This latest one of mine has tested my resolve but I know it'll get sorted sooner or later and its all part of the ownership
experience,an experience many other motors just can't offer.

So for those of us with niggles lets put it down to character and use the experience for our own character building.......yes

Here`s another totally happy owner who even after six years finds every journey a pleasure.
I probably can`t think of a 30 grand car which would bring as much fun to me and to other people.
Some of the moaning has started to get tedious fellas and you are all I am sure capable of getting your niggles fixed.

Got to agree here guys, mines an early Vantage, the only issue I've had was a thermostat needed replacing. That's in 3 years of ownership. When I bought the car I went in with an open mind expecting a few issues, it has surprised me and cannot think of parting with it.

I'm waiting delivery of a M135i as my daily which will no doubt be quicker point to point than the V8V, but it is an ugly little fecker that won't have me looking back to admire the car when parked outside a nice hotel.

Last Friday I had 3 guys in a transit give me thumbs up and a round of applause as I pulled away from the lights, never ever had that before in any car.

The NHS should prescribe a weekend in an Aston instead of Prozac, just makes you feel good.

Mines a keeper. I work with an old guy who has a 70's Vantage he bought years ago, when the old and new are on the car park together it just makes the day better. I must add, mine is more reliable than his.....

Not as ugly as they used to be but still no looker. Managed a huge discount and the dog fits nicely in the boot.

I manage sewage plant upgrades, no place for an Aston, the 135 will blend straight in.

Steady. I had an X6 40d then an X6 M50d - gangster cars them. Loved it. But sadly you over egg the 'M' 135i. Certainly an m3 is nowhere when up against a DB9 and the V8V is about half the weight of the latter. Nice car though. I just took my DB9.2 down South for the weekend. Played spot the Aston at st George's hill golf club (3on the carpark and another 2 on driveways on the way). Great tourer and effortless thud when needed. First time out in the real wet though - wheelspinnkng at motorway speeds is truly frightening and fun at same time. Steady Eddie eh?

Looks more like Tungsten to me. No doubt with an Obsidian interior.

I'm pretty sure your safe there Simon as I believe the Proton is in their imaginatively named Metal Grey.

What is slightly worrying though is that DB7 Vantage like oval lamp in the lower bumper.
