Le wedge 2014 dash
Discussion
Who is up for a 48hr dash early next year????
Just an idea at the moment. Starting in Holland if the Dutch are up for it???? The Dutch crew jump on the ferry to North Shields....Wedgers from up this way meet them coming off the ferry around 09-00 and make a dash south. We meet up with the southern and en-route wedgers and jump on a ferry from Dover to Calais and meet up with our Wedgers from France and Belgium drive north to Holland, where the Dutch complete there journey and the rest of us jump on the ferry to North Shields. The north disperse and the en-route guys carry on with the southern branch, and France and Belgium crew. They disperse as and when the France and Belgium crew carry on over the water. Sleep would be taken care of on the overnight leg from Holland to North Shields or vice versa leg.
This way everyone does a lap of the big round about.
All areas could take care of routes and pit stops.
Is this metal and can we do it in 48hrs or less?????
Set a time and try and better it in 2015.
We could go the other way so we up north jump on the ferry to Holland.

Sounds like fun but it would be too expensive for me, how far is that route? It would bankrupt me paying for the fuel lol
You will be amazed how good the wedge is on long journeys-even if your driving quite quickly! Sounds like a hoot !!

Hang on a minute lads, I've got a great idea.....
What about doing the Continental Meeting 2014? There haven't been all that many UK Wedges participating there for a while, and I think it would be a great way of reciprocating the efforts that the Dutch and Belgian guys and gals go to when visiting the UK to take part in our events. Those who have been will know what I mean, but it really is a fantastic social and driving event that deserves our support. This year was our 15th time, which says a lot about the successful format. Interested?

Fuel economy on mine has been fairly tragic so far but that's probably because I want to hear that noise :-) and all the pops and crackles on the overrun. I reckon I am getting <20mpg
Er...that's pretty good!!Sounds like fun, I would be interested in this when mines back together!
Logistically a bit if a mare to sort out.
But as stated areas could look after there bit, if willing???
First thing we need though is a date.
For the guys doing rebuilds, would April be to close for you??? If not we have the 4th/11th/18th/25th as possible start dates. Just another thought. Us up north could start this road trip off and head south, them meet up with the en-routers and southern crew, over/under the water.... meet up with the French/Belgium crew and North to Holland, meet up with the Dutch. Then when we get on the ferry we are all together for the overnight crossing, few shandies, up in the morning and onwards.
This could be done in reverse with the Dutch setting off south, for France.
Some advice from the Southern crew, Chris and Co with regards to the Channel Tunnel crossing would be great.
I will get on to DFDS over the next few days and get crossing prices based on , car two passengers inside two berth cabin.
Just tentative at the moment.
Cheers
Keep calm and keep on wedging.

Zeebrugge could be a good place to meet up the other side as it is not too far from the tunnel at Calais!
