double speed limit?

here's an interesting one.
on the A645 into Knottingley, the speed limit is now 30MPH (used to be NSL). Wide open road, no housing.
As you enter knotingley, you come across a pair of 30MPH signs. Odd.
If you come off te A1 onto the A645 to join the above road you travel through a pair of 40MPH signs.
So, if you approach knottingley from Pontefract, the speed limit is 30MPH, but if you approach knottingley from the A1 ON THE SAME ROAD, the speed limit is 40MPH.
In the oposite direction, the speed limit changes from 30MPH to 40MPH (for 80 yards) changing back to 30MPH as the road opens out to the non built up bit.
Apparently, you should always be aware of the speed limit blah blah blah.
what's the speed limit here then?

There was a road round here which after changing from an NSL had different limits depending on where you joined it from.

Its been sorted now though.

If you approach Mosborough (Nr Sheffield) on the A6135 from Renishaw then the road is NSL.However,should you be going to other way then the last sign you see when you leave Mosborough is for 40 mph.Anyone know the reason why this might be?
