Crank Removal Grief

I am stripping down my '04 Spesh Rockhopper. It has a Specialized Forearm II crankset.

I have a crank puller which has worked on every other bike I have had but it wont remove the crank on this. The bolt is bottoming out on the inside of the crank which is very narrow and isn't actually making contact with the BB spindle.

I don't know what make the tool is but it is a small on with flats for a wrench, rather than the integrated handle type ones.

Anyone know of a suitable tool with a narrow bolt?

Can you get the puller in place with the crank bolt still fitted (but not tightened up) so the puller presses on the bolt rather than the spindle itself?

The bolts are hex head with a plastic washer so that may work if I cut the washer away.

There was a metal it under the plastic washer so I hacksawed the head off and it worked. Thanks for the tip.

Crank is now off. On one side at least. The other is seized solid and the head has been rounded

Time to break out the Eazy-Outs and a drill.

Other wise the frame is completely striped and now I just need to arm myself with the biggest bottle of degreaser and start cleaning all those components.

Thankfull most of it looks ok, just some new cables, a couple of spokes and maybe a new BB and it should be as good as new.
