As more people modify their cars I am interested in which insurer's are proving accommodating.

In my own case I have the BR clutch and intake /exhaust mods which I duly declared to my insurer. Their reaction was Ok to this regarding the clutch as just a wear and tear replacement and the other mods and associated HP gains as acceptable.

I am contemplating one or more further mods such as improved suspension ,better brake set up and engine power increase via the 4.3 to 4.7 route . Having run these past the insurer for reaction on a some or all basis they have responded that these will be considered outside the boundaries of cover they are willing to provide - fair enough as they are after all a mainstream insurer.

So can people share their experiences of insurers willing to deal with modified Aston Martin and perhaps the details might make a useful addition to the FAQ section ?

I'm with Equity Red Star via ClassicLine. They are OK with everything I have done (which is 'everything' BR offer!) for no increase in cost. However, there will be an adjustment when the 6.5 engine goes in the car; to be expected I'd say smile

Hopefully nothing too punitive...

Yes, 55 grand agreed value. On an 06 DB9V at market rates, I'd get perobably 30k back. Not good enough to source another one frown

Aviva were very accommodating of the BR clutch/flywheel and manifold with no change to the premium.

That said it's not an agreed value, which is probably something I'll need to look at addressing soon as there's no way we'd be able to replace with "like" for £30k

And AVIVA will go to any lengths and expense to wriggle out of paying anything. If you don't have the agreement on the mods in writing, they will cite them as a reason for declaring the insurance null and void.

Absolute crooks.
