Classic R&B artist suggestions

I've got heavily into Doctor Feelgood (both the original and the 'new' current line up), plus George Thorogood, and early ZZ Top. I'm looking for any other suggestions for classic R&B bands that i should check out, both albumwise, and for seeing live. Can anyone help?

Not sure I would call early ZZ Top R&B? To me classic R&B is the Atlantic label from the 60s, artists like Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Aretha and so on.

For more of a boogie based thing have you tried the Quireboyz?

Thanks, I thought early stuff like La Grange & Tush for example were R&B. It's a new musical path for me, i come from electronic/industrial & heavy rock. So it's a learning curve. I was drawing parallel's between Feelgood & ZZ as i think there is a definite shared musical style/sound between those two bands. That is what i seek. Just not sure where to start.

One obvious artist to suggest from ZZ Top would probably be Stevie Ray Vaughan then, more bar room blues than R&B. Both from Texas bar band backgrounds.

Ah, thanks. I will check him out. I guess pub rock, bar room blues etc is the sound i seek.
Well, whatever it is i like it!! And i want more. A sort of moment not unlike the start of The Jerk (when Steve Martin was funny).
