Hazard lights random flashing - thoughts?

before my darling was rear ended, I had an intermitent problem with the hazard lights.

Occaisionally [there seems to be no pattern] they come on, and only stop after I either, did nothing, or had twiddled with the ally switch.

They flash for abotu 20 secs, and I am unsure whether they are coming on while I am not in the car.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

could be a dogy Earth connection ?? or Relay.

Do you have any other electric problems. As the Earth one can effect others.

no other electrical problems.

But it did occur after I put the heaviest ever teracotta pot on the back shelf, poking out of the roof and resting on the back of the central console.

Would that have affected the route of the earth or is that conincidence?

If I were guessing with your money I would say it could be a dodgy hazard switch. Disconnecting it would prove this either way.

Failing that what about the alarm going off for no reason, have you actually heard your siren go off recently, in other words are you sure the siren still works? The alarm could be going off silently.

I've never heard teh alarm siren going off at all...

so it could be silent...?

Do i take the switch out and then refer to the previous thread about silent sirens.

Would the faulty switch trigger the alarm?

I would set the alarm off and find out if the siren is dead. If the hazards flash with no noise the siren is either dead or missing.
