2 year old BMW 1M values are now virtually back where they started for a low miler. Will they continue to rise, can't see them going much higher, if anything I can see a crash. What do you guys reckon?

I was surprised to see the values quoted in this month's EVO, particularly as the M135i is so much cheaper new.

I'd imagine they'll fall when the replacement finally comes out. Can't see them dropping much before then.

I didn't expect it to hold its value as well as it has...

Is it really worth it, are they that good or were they over-hyped?

Wife has one.

Total keeper. Prices can do what they want as we don't care. We shall never sell it. It really is that good. An M135i doesn't come close. The 1M is a master piece. I have no idea how BMW pulled it off.

A total hooligan of a car. You have to get a drive in one if you can.

The low numbers will help the price stay high

The only new car I ever considered buying seriously when it was launched. Unfortunately I wasn't in a position to buy at the time.
A classic from the start.
These will always hold a good resale value. If anything I think they'll become more desirable.

Was it mine? wink

But seriously I'm pleased to see solid prices. I suspect it will take years to appreciate to any significant amount. More likely will gradually fall away. M2 may reduce prices but I don't read it being limited like the 1M so perhaps it'll retain the icon status.

In anycase I'm keeping mine for years at least.

Personally I'd keep the Z4M. I base this upon nothing more than a preference for sexy looking cars over hot hatches or saloons. The latest Z4models really are a lovely piece of sculpture.

Yes but remember the new Z4 drives nothing like the last. It has become a boulevard cruiser and a very very good one at that.

In 35iS guise it is a cracking piece of kit but it is nowhere near as hard core as the Z4M before it. Then again I really couldn't live with the Z4M as it was too hard core.

Getting back to the 1M. It is perfectly usable day to day and it's road presence and looks IMO are exceptional for what it is.

It gets way more attention than the Z4 I have yet doesn't get the wrong attention that the Z4 does.

Put it like this I've never openly been called a wker driving the 1M smile

You ain't trying hard enough biggrin

The Z4M is fine for every day use as long as you aren't do big miles as averaging 24mpg is not that great. I do about 9 miles a day and it's fine.

Plus when the engine gets warm and you want 8,000rpm it's there!

Yeah I know what you mean. Not that I drive hard these days but I do miss the high revs of a screamer.

I've a disability so went for the E89 as the way the DCT is set up it's perfect for me. Plus there is the softer ride in normal mode. I must ditch those ste runflats.

The 1M is also fairly good for me as you can make progress by just leaving it in 3rd.

Not having checked I take it the Z4M values are fairly solid these days? Beast of a car.

Same value as the day I bought it over a year ago. Fine by me.

What I really, really want is a E89 with the V8 from the E9x M3 smile

Good ones do fetch strong money still but if you aren't too fussy there are some bargains starting to appear, either way the Z4M offers great value for money when you consider it's original purchase price, they aren't for everyone though the ride & gearbox didn't win me over.
