Aluminium Boot Cover (Race Tonneau?)
Discussion
Hi All,
Would appreciate some help.
I have recently purchased the race tonneau (boot cover). It is the three piece aluminium sheet with two support struts.
My question is how do people fix these together?. I notice Caterham sell Dzus brackets for these but I am unsure as to how and where these fix to the support struts and where they fit to the panels.
Any help or pictures would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

The two support struts should each have rivnuts on lugs 1 per strut? toward the front if they were fitted. Each panel has an ali U shape piece that sort of slides/ pushes on under the top part of the rear basket on the horizontal round tube where the rear panel is riveted. You will have to remove the seat to get the middle section in from the front. This middle panel should also have two rivnuts to the rear each side on the angle face which follows the strut angle, this is where each of the side top panels bolts through from the top securing them.
Each side panel should bolt to the lug on each side on each strut and also to bolt to the middle section using a rivnut to the rear each side.?! possibly a long winded explanation. I use ss button headed allen bolts 4mm
I cant seem to download the pics I have just taken ill try later

I seem to remember putting rivnuts in so I could use button heads, dzus fasteners would be ok I suppose but seeing as I doesn't come off all that often there not that much of a requirement, plus a few bolts are way cheaper than a proper dzus fastener (be aware of cheap copies the slots are usually way too shallow).
