Pretty sure my diff has gone. Anyone know what was fitted to the V8S ? Is it the same as the early Chimearas & Griffs ?

It's a 7.5" Ford but with the small drive flanges, Granada Cosworth iirc

Thanks for the info. Damian, I sent you a mail but not sure if you got it. Interested in your spare if it's available.

One other question - anyone know what the rating of the Granada Cosworth diff is ? I think the original car was ~190bhp/200ft-lb.

it is the same diff that ford put in both Escort and Sapphire Cosworths. My Sapph rally car had over 280 horses and worked fine.

The Sapphire had a variant but not sure about the Escort. I hope to be around 300bhp so it may be OK. I'm just worried about why it went in the first place. It was the first time it was put under serious load since the rebuild.

I would expect you to break cv joints and driveshafts in an S before you broke the diff

There's a tag with an ID number on the rear plate of the diff. Can you read it ?

Bit of good advice here in an old thread, it's all about holding and turning flanges.

What happens when you pull out of a junction whilst giving it the beans..? Forward progress or just spinning the inside (?) wheel..
