Just picked up my 4.5LW from Austec after having a rolling road test and chip. Oh my god is all I can say.
Initial rolling road showed approx 348bhp. Obviously I was upset because I always boast that I am driving around in a car that delivers 420 and weighs less than a tonne. To be really honest, it didn't feel that it was sluggish or under-performing. Quite literally I didn't think a road car could go any faster. I've driven pretty much everything under £200k and it beats the lot. Austec told me that the main aim was to smooth out the power delivery across the rev range, better idle running, start up and driving style. Any bhp gain would be an added bonus. Well I did get my added bonus. She now hits 397. A bonus of 49bhp. The car was mad before. Now it is totally insane. The difference is noticeable as soon as the ignition button is pressed, right the way throgh to 7.5k in every gear. Thanks Austec and please god make it stop raining so I can go out and have some more fun.

You'll be lucky, the manual says 1100Kg (doesn't specify how much fuel if any) and TVR have been known to underquote weights in the past

Still 360.9 bhp per tonne is plenty to smile about

What were the torque increases?

Max torque has increased from 355 to 372.
The car is X plate on 30k.

At just under £1k it is more power than a RR conversion at 4 times the price!!!

Christmas is coming, don't know if the wife will agree with it though!
Do they do any sort of "If we can't make it better you don't pay service?", as I seem to remember reading this in another related article?

Paul, are you still going to sell it, I see it's still in the classifieds? Must say, best looking Cerb I've ever seen, fantastic interior.

Well that may have been me, I offer that on all the work I do .. I can't bring myself to charge anyone if I haven't completely fixed, or at least substantially improved their car, it just doesn't feel right to me.

Hi Joolz
You obviously have the same high standards of customer care as we do. We have always promoted with the re-mapping of cars if you are not completely happy with the feel and drive of the new map we will return your car to the original map and not charge you. This is for all the TVR's including the cars we do in conjunction with the great Mark Adams.

Indeed Mike .. I don't know why everyone doesn't do this .. there'd be a lot more happy customers out there if it were the case, and it would prompt dealers to get it *right* rather than just work to a lowly level and hope the customer doesn't come back ..

.. the *don't pay me unless you're happy* way of working is the best for everyone.
